IT'S TIME SOMEBODY
DREW THE LINE ON SHERIDAN ROAD.

In Chicago, Sheridan Road from Foster (5200 N) to West Sheridan (6400 N) is lined with apartment buildings.

Most of them are condos. And most of them are high-rises.

Not coincidentally, the Edgewater neighborhood (of which that stretch of Sheridan Road is a part) is the most densely populated neighborhood in Chicago, with all the attendant problems of traffic and congestion that such density brings.

As a result, in 2005, all "under-utilized" parcels of land on Sheridan Road (basically, those that didn't already have high-rises sitting on them) were downzoned to prohibit high-rise development. It was a measure widely approved and applauded by the residents of Edgewater.

But now, St. Andrew's Greek Orthodox Church and developer J. Paul Beitler have applied for an exemption to build a 45-story condominium on the church's parking lot. Their building would be called The Andrew.

The last thing we need is another high-rise on Sheridan Road.

So read through our site. Sign our petition. Join our cause.

And help us draw the line on Sheridan Road.
